The Blum Room is for an adolescent girl. It is to accommodate her teen-age life and her 21st century accumulation of necessity. It sits within a Victorian container registered as a National Historic Place; it must be semi-permanent and not damage the site, yet it also must withstand the activity of a young girl. Our task is to design the event: to create order in chaos and to design the antithesis of the Victorian room where she spent her childhood. The inefficiencies occur in the difference between the existing house, and the new inserted skin. The skin mediates between inner bedroom events and inner skin storage necessity.
